life is complex zero.
only yesterday, watso was chatting to a friend, who was discussing accommodation options for the last 10 or 15 years of his life - he used to have a good property - but sold and spent the money (but did buy a block), but when discussing the options, he used the term "a matter of necessity".
abbott could have lived in a tent (as a matter of necessity), and have sent his kids to public schooling - but hey. life is far more complex than that - abbott obviously had political ambitions, and wanted to maintain a certain standard of life.. before taking out an extra mortgage on his house, that matter would have been discussed with his wife, who has an income... watso has no idea about the internal financial dynamics of the abbott household, but surely, abbotts wife contributes to expenses (including education expenses for their children) - so if abbott had to get refinance his mortgage, then that is not a problem.
