When we see persons of worth, we should think of equaling them

that said, one of the worst imitations of a better man is behaving like one is a 'guru' & mimicking guru's instructions given to you to others

instead of putting guru's instructions into practise ourselves, we give the instructions to others in the hope that they (and not us) will follow them

i remember once when i was in Thailand, i walked up a small hill to deliver something to the most slothful & pathetic (western) monk i have ever known. he started berating himself to me about how he is always looking for sweet things to eat to appease his sensual desires. but then, together, we walked down the hill together, where he entered a meditation hall & started giving a lecture to a group of learner meditators

yes! he started berating & critising them of having his own short comings

the eastern guru traditions are like this, which is why it is best to keep a solitary life & only explain to these wannabee gurus what they don't know

Lao Tse wisely said: "the sage creates confusion in those who think they know"

    regards
