    Emerald,

Super funds have been doing this for decades. I remember when we finished our ag degree one of my friends started working for a consultancy firm which advised a Scottish pension fund on its management of a large property in Northern NSW.

The property was being upgraded from a grazing property to irrigated cotton etc. The debacles and mistakes were unbelievable. (this was late 70's/early 80's)

Corporate agriculture can work but management has to be spot on. As for the old chestnut "food is going to get very expensive because population is growing, climate change is going to get us etc etc" just never seems to happen. There are a lot of very old farmers out there waiting for "pay day".

    Cheers,
    CC
