Jesus Christ never died on the cross.Full stop. That story is about leaving the ego, the personal self behind & being born again(nothing to do with death of the physical body) in the Christ or higher consciousness & living a Selfless life for the betterment of all other humans - that is the Crucifixion story.

And I go along with your sentiments re the America's Cup etc BUT when you have Pride in winning the Cup it is putting yourself above the losers, in this case the US mob. You cannot deny it as soon as Pride enters the equation, some other mug is 'put down' & that is the point. Put it this way God has no pride, God has no emotion, God just is, we are here to live, learn, love etc & when we become as God, then we are One with God & no longer have to incarnate as a human( but some chose to do which is the ultimate sacrifice). Paradoxial I know, but that is what life is!!
