DaveR. Fair enough comments to a degree re volcanoes, however what about the effect we have had on the forests and other sinks used to suck all that vented gas up? What about the additional CO2 and methane from human activity.
The source of CO2 production may not be a dead set pointed entirely at human activity. The fact that warming and CO2 buildup is happening is undeniable. Try telling some of your beliefs to the communities being immediately and directly affected with hard hitting consequences in the polar cap regions where the ice has already retracted tens or hundreds of kilometers. Villages are disappearing, polar bears are starving or drowning, etc, etc.
Have no doubt. It's happening.
The fact that the change is rapid this time around is what's most important. We need to be open to all reasons of why it is happening so quickly and ifit is "us", then we should try to do something about it before it is too late.
If communities and species do not have time to change, adapt and evolve with the rapidly changing conditions, then there are going to be serious consequences. You're right in saying conditions have changed in the past, but humans didn't have major populations or infrastructure at risk that time around either.
Dinasaurs were wiped out "somehow". You seem to be looking at this in the 3rd unrelated person that this will not effect rather than the 1st.
