swan ... at the time AFR said UBS and MS had sounded out backers for a CR. If that was the case they would have spoken to all major insto's in Oz and Asia hence the leak ... KAR prob were going down cap raising route at the time. On 12-May Street Talk published again saying this was no longer the case and JV deals were being sought.
Recently Street Talk have been accurate ahead of the SXY-AWE chatter (AWE leaked it was SXY accusation), TCL cap QML bid and have been used by both sides for UGL demerger goss (check UGL price move last 19-may that was on the back of nothing more than Street Talk article).
The AFR journo's are connected very well to company management, instos, analysts and bankers ... yes they are some time fed the wrong info or used to push an agenda (especially by analysts) but they certainly aren't playing darts.
