tristanc - Your lesson in statistics, whilst true per se, does not relate to what I'm saying.

I'm not referring to any particular year. That the current level (i.e. yearly SUMMATION) of atmospheric temperature increases falls short of where 95% of the models predicted it would be, and well short of where the average said it would be, should give everyone pause to reflect that whilst AGW may indeed be a reality, the actual measured trend does not strongly support the hypothesis that the world is heading for catastrophe - which has been agreed upon by scientists as being anything over 2 degrees per century.

That's not to say that reality won't ever catch up to the predictions - but it's drawing a longish bow to expect an unprecedented rate of warming from here on in.

So, far from "curling up into a ball and doing nothing", the rational position to adopt is certainly NOT to panic and rush headlong into taking costly and apparently ineffective measures.

Another thing which we don't hear much from "the science", are the positives to be had from incremental warming. Not showing the NET result - alone - gives reason why many people, rightly or wrongly, consider climate "science" to be a hoax. One cannot blame them.
