Hi Zipperlip, netting is not good full stop. Netting by pros with dinghy and 4x4 destroyed the fish stocks of Geographe bay WA years ago. Try and catch a whiting, herring, gardie or even a cobbler, good luck. Trawlers are an absolute disgrace, the by product they kill without regard is outrageous. Speak to the grey nomads trying to catch a whiting in the Exmouth Gulf, were plentiful just a few years ago. Greedy locals and others have killed the pig and think they are smart, they are actually dumb. What do you do with the dead/drowned fish caught in your net above and beyond your bag limit? Tow the 22 footer to Coral Bay or Exmouth and see how far you have to go to get a few reef fish lately. 60 kms maybe as far as Peak or Long Island. All OK if you only eat shark. The authorities have put in great launching facilities at Coral Bay, Tantabiddi and Bundegi, this combined with the Exmouth marina, although good intentioned, will devastate reef/bottom species very quickly. Have you any idea about the number of superbly equipped boats that go out each day at these ramps. Just recreational holiday fishers but there will soon be nothing left. Talk to me in another five years. Fisheries Dept are an absolute pathetic disgrace, 20 years late with every move they make.
