    Hi Oorain,

    Agree 100% re shark numbers and I believe I touched on the shark issue in previous post. You have however attempted to deflect or downplay what I have said re netting and also fish stocks in general, including bottom dwelling reef fish, without providing any substance.

    I stand by my below points;

    Netting by dinghy and 4x4 on the beaches of Geographe Bay destroyed stocks of herring, whiting, garfish and others many years ago.

    Whiting stocks in Exmouth Gulf are being destroyed by beach netting.

    Bottom dwelling reef species stocks are under immense pressure from Cape Leeuwin to Onslo. I do not have knowledge of areas further north.

    This will only get worse as the population rises, the number of boats rises, the technology improves, the launching facilities are improved and installed in other locations.

    The penny will well and truly drop by five years time but it is already too late.

    Why do Fisheries need to wait until the fish stocks are very low before introducing lower bag limits, closed season etc? Are they going to wait until South Coast region and Gascoyne region are just as shot as West Coast region before they introduce equivalent rules/restrictions?

    Just to jump onto another related topic, I see Barnett (I call him the Cane Toad because he is just as damaging) now wants to stuff up Coral Bay. One of the absolute most pristine and magnificent little spots you will ever see.

    I am a Lib voter but if Barnett was lying on the side of the road I would swerve to make sure I got him. (in jest of course mods)
