    Hi Leanne
Most species of bread and butter fish, herring, whiting, sardines (pilchards) etc. are migratory. A few years ago our pilchard industry (predominately from the Albany area ) was closed down due to disease which arrived from the east. Tackle shops had to import stocks which quite frankly were crap. It took a long time for fresh stocks to migrate into that area again, its now fully recovered

I don't doubt what you say about your experience with netting, but I cant see how a few amateurs could severely effect the stocks unless pros were also working the area. We used nets every summer for years long before quota's and humungous freezers became the norm, but we only kept what we knew we could eat before it went off

I remember catching Baldchin Groper, Black arse, Dhuie's and Snapper with a spear guns and gidgee's on the reef at Geordie bay and Roe reef near Thompsons, there was schools of them , today you would need a net to catch anything other than wrasse

Coral Bay will change regardless who's in power, I don't like Barnett either, but there's no logical alternative and wont be for quite a while
The Abrolhos is also being set for commercial change. Its one of my favourite spots in the world and not available to most people and I don't want it to change, but that's a very selfish attitude on my part

But it all will, including Rotto. Heard on the radio this morning that Perth's population will be 5m by 2035. So it might be time to build a shed on the beach at Eukla before the hordes get there

The best kept secret in the world is no secret anymore, thank iron ore for that and fifo
