My personal experience is that chaplains do a huge amount of good in a school in their caring role. Much more than a counselor, less stigma than a psychologist, and way more flexible than any mental health worker in what they can do to adapt to a schools needs. And in most cases, the "faith" community raises most of their salary, topping up the $20,000 per school the govt chips in.
