John Howard committed Australians to fight wars against Afghanistan and Iraq; wars that have seen the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, the maimings of countless others and the displacement of some 51 million people. Because Australia was involved we should not be just turning our backs to people who now find themselves in highly vulnerable circumstances; even more so since we are the wealthiest people on Earth and well-placed to make a positive difference!
