No good arguing against blind prejudice. Croups has the problem of not knowing the difference between fiction and fact. These blokes have probably been good tradesmen or book keepers in a previous life but lack the
benefit of a good liberal education.

I understand where B&B is coming from and I have some sympathy for that view but my support for the Jewish cause is also because they have been and are the great enrichers of Western culture.

In my understanding there is a unique Jewish genius that is powerfully evident in almost every human activity; be it religion, literature, music, science, medicine, philosophy or the arts more generally, you name it, Jewish thought and participation has been and is in the vanguard. Like no other group of people on earth they have contributed to the advancement of civilisation.

Now I notice even in Israel there is diversity of view point on many topics, including the Palestinian issue. That diversity is invariably arrived at through rigorous intellectual interchange. That is one of the surest signs of a healthy, and vital democracy. A democracy set in a sea of feudal serfdoms,violence and ignorance.

My support for Israel is not qualified by the red herring of "complexity". The issue to me is the survival of the greatest single influence in Western thought, culture and civilisation. Our world would be a lot poorer place without that Jewish influence.
