The article was written in response to polling commissioned by Liberal Party pollsters Crosby Textor (Stills and Nash). This is an important issue because it involves a group of people unfairly discriminated against because of their sexual orientation. It's also important politically because by opposing this Abbott presents to the public as a figure of Australia's past not it's future....PS: I'd written the line before I recognised the pun, then felt obligated to leave it in.
