You forget when rope was caught in the dark ages the muslim world from cordoba to Baghdad were centres of learning for medicine and science through to navigation. But of course it is easy to only look back to the last century of civilisation. Maybe if we had awards and ceremonies back then the numbers would even up. Where were the Jews developing mathematics, medicine etc considering they are an older race. It is not intelligence but the opportunities that present. The west has more wealth and do not need to worry about trivial issues of survival and political and religious unrest in modern times. Whereas post British division areas have been in constant unrest hence the focus has been on social issues.
