Thanks very much for that overview. Very interesting.

I only ever use a stop loss with the intention of minimising losses.

I agree my TON s/l was very tight but I had - for me - a fairly large position and it went red almost immediately . Position size in turn makes my emotions a lot colder in terms of how much I am ( not ) prepared to lose. I will not let losses run very far if my positions are large unless I have watched a stock for some time and understand it is naturally volatile.

I started life as a futures trader and in that game where you can lose not only money you have.....but then money you do not have......you needed to be B R U T A L with your stops. I guess it has stayed with me.
