I think main purpose of trading halt is to comply with ASX rules of prompt disclosure of material facts ie covering themselves legally. Given that they are also needing to comply with Moroccan gov and Galp tight hole restrictions,it may be that a trading halt without details was the only way to cover themselves. I find it hard to imagine that good news would be delayed ,however,and thinks its entirely likely that they had already drilled part way into trident without finding hc[but still requiring completion and wireline info],so needed to either ann that or stop trading..just another possibility.Certainly hope to be proved wrong about this...didnt manage to offload any shares.
