Trust me spyglass, I work in the finance industry... Pretty sure you wouldn't have read through the entire ASX listing rules (or anyone including myself for that matter). It's inferred from the wording of the rules - it has to have become aware of information that could have a material effect on the price or value... If you'd like to read more the link is below. I'm not trying to have a slanging match here, just helping out mate...

"if it becomes aware of information that could have a material effect on the price or value of its securities, to determine whether the information needs to be disclosed under Listing Rules 3.1 and 3.1A and, if it does and the entity is not in a position to issue an announcement straight away, whether it should consider requesting a trading halt"
