re: ampligen, too costly LANI is dimeric zanamivir (modified Relenza) It is 100 times more potent and lasts 14 times as long and production costs are probably not much more than making ordinary relenza thus you need 1/1400 the dose for an equivalent effect of Relenza. Thus this is perfect for pandemic stockpiling at a very cheap price the whole world could afford, even if you add a decent profit to Sankyo and Biota.
By comparison:
http://wwcoco.com/cfids/ampligen.html
"How much does Ampligen cost? The cost of manufacturing Ampligen for the treatment programs in Belgium and Canada is relatively high (U.S. $12-18,000)"
Once LANI is fasttracked through to production, with no interference from GSK, expect this to be the mainstay of pandemic preparedness.
