Cant see that Locke would be looking
at specifically supporting Tesla's Cars or try to compete with Tesla at all. Plenty of Hybrids and non-swappable electrics from other manufacturers on the road in the next few years .
The charging time factor needs to be resolved though, can't see most motorists wanting to hang around for even 30 minutes . ( But if they did, the servo could make $$ on providing quality food/coffee/internet access to pass the time ! ) . Indijo is right - most petrol stations don't have enough space to have cars sitting for up to 30 minutes. Car parks make more sense for locating large numbers of conventional electric chargers.
But if you provide fuelling capacity for LNG gas powered cars which are incrementally better re fuel emissions and costs than petrol, then you have gas for Fuelcells too. Maybe the strategy is to service the needs of motorists in the transition between petrol dominance and electric dominance, provide a refuelling depot for any motorist no matter what car he/she drives ?
