It's not only Aussie based producers that have higher costs per oz but many Major international producers breaking even at present ..yes third world producers have lower labour fuel costs at times but can have political / ownership risks to add in ....Aussie is the 2nd biggest Gold producing Country in the world so must
be something going right here and if it's going be uneconomic sub $1200oz USD etc then a massive chunk of World production will be put on C&M

-In Gold's case Jewelry Demand soaks production and some we don;'t have tons of gold bars filling up warehouses unwanted

If production drops (as it looks likely going forward) Prices must rise to keep up with demand ...just look into history of tons per oz last 50yrs etc will show you the future

But you are assuming that share prices always follow gold prices

Sure there are a few stocks that will have strong correlations... but past history shows us that more often than not there is a lag
