Moondoong, yes it's too far out from an election but the polls give an indication as to how voters think the government is performing.

Abbott and the libs can only disregard the polls for so long before they have to address why they are polling badly and what to do about it, 6 months before an election may well be to late with a gap like now. 1 year before an election would the latest so that would be a year from now but if the polls worsen in the next 6 months there will be real concerns amongst the libs.

As I have said previously, Abbott and Hockey have lost too much trust. I really doubt they can regain it
