With respect to you both I cannot see how our National Flag can be viewed by any proud Australian citizen as just "a piece of cloth". It has and does mean much, much more to the overwhelming majority of people in our great country, and is one of our peak symbols of national identity. And other nations' flags are rightly viewed the same way by their citizens. Flag burning is an absolutely disrespectful insult to the nation and people affected and should definately be a Criminal offence in Australia. For goodness sake, it's illegal to drive a car without a seatbelt so why not to burn our precious flag?
