Gneissic ,
Easily explained both insurance claim jumps and seeming but not truly increased number of hurricanes, earthquakes ,cyclones. It is totally down to population increase . Take Sierra Leone when looking at the effects of the latest Ebola incidence they realized that the outbreak was numerically increased by the trebling of population in the area over the last forty years.
This increased density of population has meant greater effects in damage from the same or generally smaller number of disasters. Also the population has now been forced into dangerous more disaster affected areas as the safer areas have overcrowded.
Very simplistic and untrue assumptions of yours . I hope your other reasons for believing the alarmist climate change scenarios have more rationale.
