Well I did it for years with sheep.

From about 15 years of age till 45, I slaughtered our own sheep for meat for the family.

No stunning (with what), Just cutting their throats as quickly and cleanly as you could.

I hated it, but I have always been a woose. I hated shooting kangaroos etc. Was a bit of a misfit in that regard. Still, that was the best way known at that stage and most of us want to eat meat.
