I understand and appreciate the points you are making - refreshingly constructively.

Aussie's recent good performance comes on the back of policies your current govt appears likely to or has already scrapped.

There is always some degree of uncertainty. But the uncertainty is relatively little, given the decades long and multi-national science effort on this. If you look at the likely consequences and costs it is clear that a risk management approach is necessary.

The world's governments have already reached the view that the risk needs to be managed, and have set the 2 degrees target. They are just sorting out how that is somewhat equitably achieved, while dealing with vested interest groups and looking for public support and the best technological ways forward. It's not been an issue to stick your neck out over for most politicians, but it is becoming an issue that it is wise not to be seen as against, as we get past the denialists misinformation and misrepresentations of the issue.

It is because of the extent of misrepresentation, false claims and malicious attacks on scientists, as part of vested interest groups funding of bogus policy institutes and bloggers, that I use the word denier. They are a particularly manipulative bunch. That is just how I have found it to be. Others are using particularly manipulative sources because the arguments suit their belief systems. And the insults usually come from them first.

Insurers will bail out. Your policy is renewed each year, if they wish to let you. And policy fees can be increased.
There are already court cases where insurers are taking councils to court over failure to take prudent steps to mitigate, arguing insurance claims are/will be invalid as a consequence.
This example is not directly relevant, but is a pointer to what's to come imho
