Interesting subject.
As an amateur musician I talk to other Muso's and they all speak of the memory retained in the muscle, or something similar.
To summarise the whole idea, when you play music and start to forget the notes then switch off the brain and stop thinking about the notes and let your hands do the work. I got ta tell you that is exactly what happens you suddenly find yourself playing the notes but not remembering them. Its as if the knowledge is coming from somewhere else entirely. Engaging the brain for memories at this time causes the player to forget and stop or just fake it till they remember.
Some muso's Ive spoken to go further and say a lot of creativity comes from connecting to whatever it is that drives creativity and they are talking of an external source, possibly a similar thing to the force luke.
Interesting.
