I'm sceptical too, so who do i trust to give me the right information, men and women who have achieved a high standard of education and have established and even honored careers in the field of climate, or politicians with their own agenda regardless of which political side they come from, or members of industries who have the most to lose should climate change be excepted as absolute, or for that matter members of industries that stand to gain the most.
It seems according to every opinion i read that nobody is to be trusted, well ok what to do then.
well i could hedge my bets and make sure i am protected from the worst scenarios while trying not to give up anything in my current lifestyle so long as it doesn't cost much because i can't afford it, i can support new technology in the hope that it might benefit everybody, but see no reason to throw bucketloads of cash at it, especially if it means ultimately a better quality of life and it's a benefit to my environment, i have lived in smog filled cities and won't go back to that filth, i have lived beside highways and wondered about the black dust all over my roof and my washing so not going into that situation again either, i have had to move well out of town to breath clean air and enjoy a night sky filled with millions of stars that can't be seen in the city and i really love being totally independent from the energy and water grids that suck up so much of the hard earned and doesn't need to be spent in the first place, well it does need to be spent, on my kids education and dental and medical care, but at least i have the cash for that now.
I wonder about those who are against what could be seen as the positive side of climate change, whether we need it or not wouldn't it be nice to live in a world with less pollution and greater investment in new technologies, i think if you love coal fired power stations then you should go live next to one, just like those extremists should go back to the country they come from and fix up their own mess.

I think you have outlined the key issue. yes we all want a clean environment and a secure future, but the climate zealots confuse Climate Change and AGW as if they are the same thing when they are not. And one can only conclude that they have a hidden political agenda for peddling the same scientific gobbledygook when the empirical evidence is no global warming for the last 17 years. There may be a component of AGW in Climate Change, but its probably (IMHO) very small and still poorly understood. The science is not settled. If it is settled then why are we funding the research? The precautionary principal - where you prepare for the worst case scenario and doomsday - is sheer fantasy. There is more likelihood of us being hit by a rogue asteroid. And we don't prepare for that. Vested interests are pushing Global Warming onto the masses. There are billions of dollars of funding washing through universities and QANGOS around the world based on perpetuating the AGW Climate Change hoax. Just as there was for the Y2K hoax. And the media is largely to blame for beating the AGW story up and making politicians s**t scarred to discuss it in a rational and analytical manner.
