re: ftse live 3363 I'm now tipping that if the AMP falls much further, then Treasurer Costello will approve a special dispensation under Four Pillars that will allow for The National to take a key 30% stake in the business, fixed for a period of years (ie: 3 -5 years), following which, The National will then be free to launch a full takeover bid. The flipside to this, however, will be that The National's shareholding stake would be in the form of preferential capital sufficient in nature to qualify as Tier 1 capital.
My suggested recapitalisation price for this to occur - a 15% discount to Friday's closing price. That would make for an effective recapitalisation price of $4.75, based on a Friday close of $5.60 (ie: 56c below tonight's close).
