Why the use of emotive terms? Someone disagrees with you and demeaning terms are thrown to make them seem emotive. Nice one.
Just because shorting is used as a tool by supposedly "professional" investors doesn't make it legitimate in every respect nor does it mean it can't be used as part of a mechanism to keep a SP artificially low.
Nor does it mean it shouldn't be legitimately discussed. What makes the difference between professional and retail investors anyway? If a retail investor is doing this full time, they are professional.

Macbank has used shorting and actively has been involved in keeping the SP low. The issue of a warningnegative report was part of this strategy and the fact that they got away with it despite MSB having to issue a corrective ann to address misconceptions in the Macbank report doesn't make their activities legitimate. IMO.
As for the supposed legitimacy of academic articles. The Nobel prize was awarded to a couple of quant experts...who guess what? Were wrong.
