Macbank has not endeared itself to MSB management by making slurs about the science. MSB had to issue a corrective ann. This was and is, an appalling result because by then the market had taken a view. The fallout continues and it's got to be a form of wilful blindness that "the market" (of which Macbank has to be one of the bigger players with MSB) has refused to realise its mistake.
Having taken a large position, what is the motivation to alter it with facts?
The abundance of shorting and the gyrations that have occurred to cover them since, could any reasonable and fairminded person to assume that academic articles that tell us shorting is for our financial health are not particularly helpful or accurate. And that's putting it very mildly indeed.
(madamswr has from time to time made various promises that expert opinion will be provided, for instance on how shorting can be used as an indicator of what biotechs are worth investing in. Sadly that report has never been posted. )
