In your position you should know that artificially triggered price spikes/drops can have devastating effects on market participants for reasons that should be obvious.

In all the pontifications of vested interests claiming that short selling is beneficial to the market as a whole - where does "(stock) lenders.....smart enough to bring about a short squeeze" fit into the supporting side of the "beneficial" debate?

Anyway let's leave it there, I don't think we need to talk further, but thanks for the discussion. There is a gross morality problem with the promoters of short selling ; but money will buy you anything in Western democracy. And our regulators have no clue (or took the money).
