Insaf, like most other Australians I am horrified by such incidents and disgusted that our political leaders have exacerbated tensions within our communities. Tony Abbott doesn't seek to first understand others before shooting his mouth off and even his former editor noted his inability to achieve 'balance' in his journalism.
Abbott is incapable of the sensitivities needed to be PM of a multi-cultural society and until either his party replaces him or until the next election our community fabric will be sorely tested.
As you said, thank goodness most of our Police are decent and professional operators and that some people still have the courage and conviction to stand up against prejudice, bigotry, discrimination, intolerance and even violence.
