    Unfortunately it doesn't always work like that. If a company can get enough shareholders to accept their offer then they can (I think) take yours off you at their offer price whether you like it or not. If you do manage to keep your holding then the chances are you become a very minor holder in a possibly (but not always) unlisted company.
