re: current account deficit??? does it matter an interesting perspective (particularly the US case) is that the BoT figures are distorted by the mass movement of manufacturing offshore ie a large amount of the profits generated from goods imported are made by Oz manufacturers who have moved production offshore.
So if these co's are paying tax in Oz on those increased profits, it would explain the gov's increasing surpluses while the BoT seemingly deteriorates
