Fundamental Christians believe that the bible is the inspired word of God......Why do you think that there are soooo many people who, in spite of all the scientific evidence, believe that the world was created in 6 days only 6,000 years ago. We aren't talking about a handful of fringe dwelling lunatics here. There are professional educated intelligent people who actually believe this. A fair few here in Australia (look no further than Hillsong) but many many more in the USA. They believe this because they believe that the bible is the non-negotiable, unalterable inspired word of God.

It always amuses me when "moderate" muslims try and compare "extreme" Christianity with Islamic terrorism, saying "god hates fags" in a protest is NOT the same as strapping explosives onto your body and saying allah Akbar and blowing yourself up is it, yet we are told both extremes are as bad as the other.
