A bit like the weather isn't it, we have summer and winter with seasons in-between, but nobody can predict what the future summer or winter will be only best guess on averages from the past, because we might have major volcanic disruption and get another mini ice age, we might have a huge chunk of antartica slide into the ocean and given the lesson from North America we know that can change the ocean currents and hence the weather, the magnetic poles might flip and who knows what that might do, we might have a huge solar flare that burns half the planet, a large meteor might hit our planet, it's unending, i think it's best we just develop the best technologies as quickly as possible and spread out through the universe, i wonder if wormholes could be used for travel ?
