    I thought a second ago 'the left' were against any and all privacy, and hard into thought policing? Make up your mind here.

    Actually, there are not many people at all on your fantasy construction of the "Left" who are against the police being able to investigate and catch terrorists. The debate largely centres around mandatory data retention, against everyone, not just criminal suspects. There is whistleblowing too, and the privacy debate around that, such as a concerned staff member leaking out the emails of a gnarly old bigot in a position of public power for all to get a good look.

    I don't really expect you to grasp the subtleties of these debates though, given your anti-democratic and 'execute all traitors' opinions that you hold. It's probably a bit much.
