Very true which team do you pick. Im not pro Russian although the Anti Russians on this blog would say different.
The Russians lost a lot of people fighting the Natzi's in Eastern Europe so I can understand them reacting to losing the Ukraine and in particular Crimea which hosts a Russian Naval port.

The whole war started over who was going to fund the Ukraine the EU or Russia as both were supplying a finance package to the Ukraine.

Personally I don't think there has been any credible evidence to prove who did what.
I can say the SAM launcher some say shot the aircraft down is possessed by the Ukraine and the Rebels. It has a range of about 180 klm's and the aircraft wreckage was spread out over about a 40klm range. It could have been either side that launched a missile given the range of the SAM and area the crash site was spread over, the aircraft broke up in flight. If you read the article that was printed in the Straights Times of Malaysia that article says there were two distinct type of damage to the aircraft, one type was from a missile and one type was from cannon fire.
