That's because there is no single suburb in a single state that represents 'real australia'.
It's a vast collection of rich and poor, labourers, office workers, self-employed, daytraders, programmers, artists, racists, hippies, students, meth-heads, old people of all different opinions, people in religious compounds, aboriginal communities, freemasons, quakers, etc etc.
The outside world isn't everyone's cup of tea though. Labor tried to conjure up all kinds of images of the 'real australian' as an occupant of western sydney. Perhaps you are thinking the same way as them now?
