Good questions. Looking at this publication:http://pubs.usgs.gov/bul/b2207-a/b2207-a.pdf
it looks like the Albian and Aptian layers have been pushed up nearer the shore as they were layed down before the oil bearing strata in FAN-1. Its possible to make the interpretation you suggest .. that the Albain may have been the original source. But I'm no expert. We need ya or others to answer this one as you have observed.
I also checked on the Dome Flore heavy oil discovery further north and happily found it was drilled in much shallower and younger Oliocene rocks ... hence the biodegradation. Less chance of that outcome in the Albian and Aptian that were once even deeper than they are today.
