Fig 2, showing the parallel lenses 1 to 5 and the feeder zone (according to Prof Large's model) is the interesting proposition. EM and geophysical prospecting points to it but only the drill will confirm it and prove an economic deposit. I feel quietly confident.
The reason that the lenses are parallel is because of the extensive folding which has occurred in this region call the Lachlan Fold Belt. The original VMS deposit would by semi horizontal, formed on the sea floor by 'black smokers' with a feeder zone in the centre (plenty of references on the internet to Volcanogenic Massive Sulphides) The Lachlan Fold Belt was sea floor, and subsequent deposits, which collided with Eastern Australia and was thrust up and over the continent, it suffered massive folding like a concertina as it piled up. Hence the structure we see in Fig 2.
Interesting eh ?? Hope its true and we get a bagger here.
Other ore deposits in the region are due to the partial melting of the rocks forced down by the over-riding sea floor. They would rise as magma and produce the classic hydrothermal and epithermal deposits and also porphyry and IOGC deposits.
