In positive news for zinc, which is used in galvanising steel, China Railway Corp said all 64 railway projects planned for 2014 had been approved and would start by the end of the year.
Zinc bucked the weaker trend, adding 0.2 percent to close at $2,300 a tonne.

The base metals are reacting bullishly to recent developments with nickel and tin the ones that were looking oversold now recovering, while the rest are rebounding too, with lead looking the laggard. For now we expect the upward drive to continue, but would not get overly bullish.
