My thoughts on the whole marketing issue. I think not having a Facebook page is pretty poor, surely setting one up couldn't be that expensive? But as to other forms of marketing/advertising - until there is relatively wide availability I can't see the point in expending large amounts on advertising. Other than in Walmart Texas, availability seems to be widely spread - I guess they could have considered some focus advertising there during the trial but even that would likely be pretty expensive, Texas is a big place with lots of advertising markets.

As to point of sales - a lot of that comes down the the retailer. Walmart may not have wanted giant Yowie posters or 6 foot tall Yowie character cut-outs. I think when YOW did a stand out the candy convention there was picture of all the POS stuff available, it's up to the retailer what they want to use I assume.

I've also seen Daz bashing the spend on the game quite often. It might not be getting much interest from Yowie buyers, but you can't really tell whether it had an effect when Yowie management turned up at Walmart etc to give their pitch - it doesn't matter if no kids actually use it, if it helped in actually getting them on the shelves in the 1st place. But I guess we'll never know.

The marketing issue seems to be a bit of a chicken or the egg conundrum, no point advertising unless there is wide availability but its hard to promote interest to get that availability without marketing.
