Indeed - Prime - As I recently posted on the SYR thread we have a vested interest in both co's doing well: [ http://hotcopper.com.au/threads/prediction.2394490/page-29?post_id=14231225#.VFvxgXIU83M].

One Thing - i'll ask for clarification on is the electricity from the Grid. My understanding for both TON and SYR is YES they can but the service is fairly unreliable and they are both looking at diesel as a primary source of electricity generation. Also you suggest it is about 4hours to Port via road, I think that is correct for SYR but TON is only 9 K on gravel to the main highway and then 2.5 Hours to Pemba. either way they are both very close in mining terms and it really is about port development of which the Moz Govt is very supportive.

Given Moz is the main trade corridor in the region and that there is a mining boom I think Port access is something that will need to be secured early and there would be great value in TON and SYR working together to construct facilities at Pemba that could support future requirements through 2030 when one might expect over 10Mt departing each year?

I have the feeling Vale. Rio and other might be tying up Nicanda and we would be renting space from them if we took that avenue... it may be possible up to 2020 but I suspect with their planned ramp up in production there will be no room for passengers. I think they spent/spending 4.5B on the rail line -over 900km (ouch) but obviously priced in.

    Here's a bit of info I found interesting: http://www.bhrplc.com/mozambique.aspx
