What I was saying was that oppressed groups often have little way of fighting back against oppression other than violence/terrorism. Once the oppression has been overpowered they are often elevated from terrorist to freedom fighter.If they lose , they remain terrorists.
Mandela is a case.
Look at other struggles around the world and parallels can be drawn , Kurds, Ireland , Palestine, Sri Lanks etc etc
