I simply dont know what the answer is. I do know that escalation of violence and tit for tat is certainly NOT the way to go.As you said both sides have been guilty in the past. It needs a cooling off a la N.Ireland. However whilst you have some of the neo cons gnashing their gums back in the USA this may be very hard to achieve.
It is an occasion where if we had a UN which wasnt being undermined the whole time,was united, and had some authority, a supported internationally agreed solution could be put. That possibility doesnt exist until there is the political will and respect to support the body.
