    sabretoothed,
I go a little further, it wasn't the bashing of the life guards that started this, speak to anyone in Sydney, gangs of ME males have terrorised Sydneysiders for many years- ask any serving (or retired) police officer, or refer to Tim Priest's notes on the issue. Police have had their hands tied by failure at the top (gov't and courts), that kept telling them "nothing was wrong", and "don't persecute the poor little petals". One of the things that should go out the door in NSW, are victims details being made available to all parties, so, fearing further harm, charges are dropped.

I saw the piece on the ABC, and the mention that "whoever starts the fight is the naughty one" (can't remember exactly how he put it) by the law student, doesn't take into account that they've aggravated (terrorised is a better word) our society for many years, so his 'tit for tat' doesn't quite wash with me.

The head of the '???? council of Australia' (or whatever his title was) looked almost proud of his boys, with a smug look (or smile) on his face, he said none of the offenders would frequent the places of worship, so he wouldn't be able to help police with any identities, and furthermore, police hadn't approached him. If police hadn't approached him, it would have been for no other reason than not to step on the toes of the premier's constituents.

When you take the day into account, and consider that there was 5,000 rioters (?????) on one side, what group inflicted the worst injuries? and, what does that tell you? I've only referred to the crowd as rioters because that's what the media seems to call them but give people credit, these were not just a band of thugs, these were people from all geographic locations that were just saying, WE'VE HAD ENOUGH.
