Here is a quote from another recent article published in "The Local", (not sure if there is a connection with our poster "the local"), an English language Danish newspaper.

"IA wants to hold a referendum on reinstating the ban, and its leader Sara Olsvig has said that regardless of the outcome she will try to block a project in south Greenland that could become one of the world's largest uranium mines."

I'm guessing that project is Kvanefjeld.

Add that to a recent post by the local which said:

"Party demokraatit just 'dropped a bomb' in this evening televised shows, they have now turned 180 and stated that they now support a referendum since 75% of greenlands population demands it.. Only siumut party and the little Atassut party refuse it..  "

From the poll at the top of this thread IA and Demokraatit together had 48% of the vote.

If this is all correct, it seems likely there will be a referendum, and that regardless of the result, Ms Olsvig will try to use it as a pretext to reinstate the ban.

Thank goodness we have no debt. Might be sitting on our collective hands for a few more years!
