Sort of. But if borrowing a share so that you can sell it, as you think it is going to go down, is considered evil - why is selling a share you have already profited from because you think it is going to go down not evil?
Buying a share is gambling that it will go up, and the person selling it to you isn't very smart.

Why does it make any difference to the buyer of your share whether you had bought it, and profited, or borrowed it, and want to profit?
